After my painting studio went bust earlier this month, I can see the starving artist cliche' could quickly become more and more of a reality if I don't get back into the grind. I have decided this might be a good time to round up some new illustration clients and really make a go of it one last time in the print world before jumping into fine art with both feet.
If you haven't seen my illustration portfolio yet, here it is: www.CojoArt.com
There are a couple dozen potential clients I've always wanted to work for- and I'll be profiling them here, and contacting them over the next few months, but the first batch I'm contacting is the elete handful of clients I not only would like to work for, but for whom I actually have a subscription to and read.
The five elete potential clients are . . .

I had the great fortune to attend Our Time's 8th Annual Benefit Gala in honor of music icon Carly Simon, hosted by Edie Falco. Our Time theatre company is a theatrical camp for children who stutter, and I had never heard of this wonderful organization until my girlfriend Molly invited me to the Gala.
It's an amazing art based program where children who otherwise would grow up shy and embarrassed by their stammering speech patterns are given an accepting artistic home. And one shocking revelation I never knew about children who stutter; when they are singing - or even rapping, they completly lose their stutter. The performances out of these kids (Teamed with Broadway and Hollywood Stars) at this event were phenominal.
The show started with two little girls on the stage introducing the event, and it took them like five minutes to get through a few paragraphs of written introduction. It was painful to watch them stutter and stammer through almost every word. Then the band started to play and they broke into Carly Simon's Anticipation. Lo and behold beautiful singing voices poured out of them and filled the theatre. It was such an insane contrast to their speaking voices that the audience in witnessin such a transformation totally lost it, we went fucking nuts. . .

After watching Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND in the theater, and seeing the visually liquidic Cheshire Cat, it reminded me of the ALICE IN WONDERLAND sketches I drew for my 2005 - 2006 yearlong sketch experiment Sketch365.com and that one fan of the project, Dan Vache had taken it upon himself to have my sketch of drilled into his skin.
Here is what the original sketch looked like. . .<< CONTINUE READING / POST COMMENTS AFTER THE JUMP

The chroma key green screen arrived a few days after I had to dismantle my studio, so I put it up in my much smaller computer studio, but it's not a very large green screen, so it fits the space fine. I have a couple more rounds of revision on the puppet before he's fully HD camera ready and then we will be good to start filming!. . .

Legendary Hall of Fame baseball catcher Yogi Berra was photographed wearing the Roosevelt Lakers shirt. The Chappelle Show's Ashy Larry himself Donnell Rawlings was taping his upcoming Comedy Central special "Take it in the face" at Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. My girlfriend Molly was audience wrangling for the cameras, so being that my sister Ace was visiting from Montreal I brought her and her boyfriend Ryan to see the show. VIP style of course.
When we arrived I noticed Donnell was on the side of the building before the show and I told Ace to go over and introduce herself and she did, and I snapped great photo of her with him.
