HALLOWEEN IN NYC NUDE BODY ART & PEANUTS
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31, 2010 - NEW YORK, NY
We had been planning another couple theme costume. We went with a Charles Schultz Peanuts theme. Me playing Charlie Brown, and Molly playing Lucy. Molly got me the yellow shirt and I painted on some stripes. The next step was to shave. I haven't shaved my beard in ages, so this was sort of an experiment to see how I look bald headed and faced.. . .

STEWART & COLBERT PACK WASHINGTON D.C. AT
THE RALLY TO RESTORE SANITY AND / OR FEAR
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2010 - WASHINGTON D.C.
Feet on the grass, asses in trees, mock protest signs in the air. These are just a few of the spectacles you might have witnessed if like me, my parents, my brother, or 250,000 other people, you took the trip down to Washington D.C. over the weekend to be a part of the Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert rally to restore sanity and / or fear. . .

DEBUNKING THE CHARLIE CHAPLIN TIME TRAVELER
MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2010 - BELFAST, IRELAND
Belfast filmmaker George Clarke (see above) of Yellow Fever Productions put up a video analyzing a clip from the extras on a DVD of the 1928 Charlie Chaplin film The Circus where he claims there is a time traveling old woman, or old man in drag using a cellphone in one of the candid shots (watch video above).
Here is my theory about what exactly is happening in this video. . .

BAD SUBWAY ADVERTISING: PBS CIRCUS
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2010 - 9th Avenue, New York, NY
When I was at SVA of the ways me and the graphic design students would pass time on the subway would be to dissect the bad advertising on the trains. I still like to do this (in my mind) but I figured, what the fuck, I might as well share some of my observations here.
This is an ad for a reality show / documentary on PBS called Circus, about the behind the scenes life of Circus and Carney Folk. The ads dominated the entire side of this subway car.
Now, PBS must have shot a bunch of publicity photos of the various characters featured in the doc, the problem is, when they gave the artwork to the designers who were supposed to layout the subway ads, they only gave them a limited number of images. . .

AN ODD UNDERPASS DRUG OVERDOSE ENCOUNTER
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2010 - BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN, NY
So after taking in some great poetry and post poetry drinking in the East Village I took the L to Myrtle in Brooklyn, and since the M doesn't run on weekends I got off to transfer to an M shuttle bus. I could have walked it, I always walk it, but this time I was drunk, and walking just seemed like extra effort when the bus would probably get me there in less time and was a free transfer.
So there I was, it was the middle of the night, I was standing with a bunch of hipsters and a few middle aged straphangers under the elevated train track on the edge of Brooklyn and Queens at a makeshift bus depot. Buses stop to pick-up people on both sides of the street every few minutes, other than that most of the stores in the surrounding area had gated up for the night several hours ago.
Across the street I noticed a man had stumbled off the curb into the road. He was probably in his mid 40's with graying hair, mostly bald, a big pot belly and wearing a t-shirt in jacket weather. He had tattoos on both arms, and it was obvious from his expression that he looked pretty disoriented.. . .

I was passing by the Madison Square Market when I realized that it was closing. I love the way NY has these cool little seasonal markets on the edges of parks, this one on Madison Square Park with the Flatiron building looming above.

DEAN AND BRITTA: WARHOL'S 13 MOST BEAUTIFUL
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2010 - NEW YORK, NY
What a surprisingly inspiring experience I had tonight as Dean & Britta played their 50th performance of 13 Most Beautiful . . . Songs for Andy Warhol's Screen Tests to a packed house at the Skirball Center in New York.
Between 1964 and 1966 Andy Warhol shot 472 Screen Tests. These were moving portraits where a subject sat in front of a movie camera as it recorded them. Each Screen Test was only as long as a roll of film, ending when the film ran out. They were shot on a 16 mm Bolex camera set to silent, black and white loaded with 100-foot rolls of film. The two and three quarter minute films were then projected in slow motion so that each lasted four minutes.
Warhol had his Screen Test archive broken down into groupings of the "13." Most likely borrowed from a New York City Police Brochure of the "Thirteen Most Wanted." He had two reels in particular that would be shown as themed pieces The 13 Most Beautiful Boys, and The 13 Most Beautiful Women. This performance by Dean & Britta is based on that premise.

UNION SQUARE ANTI-POLICE BRUTALITY RALLY
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2010 - UNION SQUARE, NEW YORK, NY
While walking past Union Square Park I noticed there was an October 22nd coalition anti-police brutality day rally going on. There sure were a lot of cops monitoring it from the perimeter.
I got a few shots of the crude line drawing posters the protesters had made of the victims of Police brutality. . .

PLAY ME I'M YOURS WHEN THE MUSIC'S OVER
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2010 - SOHO, NEW YORK, NY
The Play Me I'm Yours, public art project where pianos were decorated and placed all around manhattan was ended far too soon, and is supposed to be back next year (as I read in New York Magazine) but where did they go? I would have no fucking idea if I wasn't fucking around behind the scenes at the Art Dog and Cat Gala.
My documentarian Pitt had to dump some footage from his camera to his laptop so he was in the storage area of Gallery , when I came back to see how his progress was going I noticed a piano, and then another, and another, and then what the fuck?! All of them are just sitting here collecting dust. . .

ART DOGS AND CATS OF NY GALA AUCTION
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2010 - SOHO - NEW YORK, NY
I have been talking about this charity project ever since I started documenting the painting of this thing back in February in my now defunct NJ studio.
The concept was to paint this concrete dog and make him eye catching from a distance, so you would walk up and give it a good look as it would be sitting on a NYC sidewalk for a full month. The fact that the were going to be auctioned off to support animal rescue groups was an added bonus, but seriously I was psyched to be painting again, and to have the sculpture sitting on a heavily trafficked street on Amsterdam just off the North Western corner of Central Park, you can't beat that.. . .

COJO STUDIO SHELVING REVAMP
MONDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2010 - RIDGEWOOD, QUEENS, NY
While moving a large box in my studio I bumped into my shelving unit, which is a flimsy metal cube system you put together with plastic connectors, and it all collapsed on top of itself like a house of cards. I hot glued all of the plastic pieces to the metal pieces for a little more stability. Here are some shots just after the collapse and building the new sturdy-ish system. . .

KNOCK KNOCK. . .WHO'S THERE? . . . JUNO. . . JUNO WHO? . . . DID JUNO THAT ACTRESS ELLEN PAGE HATES ME?
MONDAY, OCT 11, 2010 - HOLLYWOOD, CA
I noticed that this 350.ORG video (seen above) was posted on my friend, environmental stand-up comedian Jackie Eco's, facebook fan wall and I had to make a few observations on the video. Here is what I posted:
"One minute 17 seconds of monologue with 36 seconds of actual on screen time and she can't do it without reading a prompter just to the right of the camera? Jesus, we can see your eyes tracking text, at least memorize the parts where you are on camera, it's 36 seconds! Act like you care Juno! The only time I can take this chick seriously is when she's speaking in hipster jive pop culture cliche's into a plastic land line thats shaped like a hamburger."
I reposted this on my FB wall because I thought, hey, it's a funny crit, and it will also get people to watch the video.
So the next day I get this pissed off personal facebook message from Ellen Page, whom I've never met mind you.
"yes you know me. thus you know whether i truly care or not. please tell me what you are doing for the environment...tell me what steps you have made."
I totally love this, because it's the bitchy "THUNDERCATS ARE GO!" attitude I dig from her onscreen persona, rather than the scripted 350.org speech. . .

ALTERNATE SIDE OF THE STREET PARKING SUCKS
MONDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2010 - RIDGEWOOD, QUEENS, NY
I just ran a marathon in five minutes. I realized it was 8:28 AM when I hadn't moved the car yet for alternate side of the street 8:30 AM parking. When I went to grab my keys. . . MISSING!
I searched the entire apartment in about three minutes, the cat was so confused as I shot back and forth. Where are these fucking car keys!!!! I ran downstairs and checked all three doors to see if I had left them in the lock this morning when I helped Molly lug her sound equipment to the car. Nada. . .

It began with the moving in to my new studio. From here who knows where it will go. The documentary film has yet to be named and at this point is pretty independent. . .
