"Cojo Original" paintings or commissioned portraits are very hard to attain and are prized status symbols among the rich and famous. He creates such few painted works a year, and the demand is so high that owning one privately is nearly impossible.
Currently Cojo has a waiting list for commissioned portraits. He will begin work on these portraits in late 2007 at the conclusion of the SKETCH365 painting series "10 (S)UBJECTS."
Cojo's portraits are executed by hand on heavy-duty canvas with an oil-based enamel and oil based black-line paint markers. The canvas size can range (based on your preference) from 36" x 36" up to 48" x 60". Portraits can be full color, or subtle color (again, your preference, and custom to fit your environment). Price for family portraits, or portraits of a couple require an additional fee of $3000.00 per additional subject.
The artist will take photo reference for the portraits. If client already has an existing photo for artist to work from that will suffice if necessary (at artist's discretion).
Artist is located in the New York / Philadelphia region. Optional travel and hotel expenses to other locations for reference photo shoot will be paid for by client in addition to commissioning fee if client isn't located or willing to travel to within 100 miles of the artist.
Cojo is currently working on a commissioned family portrait for director Kevin Smith, and a commissioned portrait for Mike Tyson. Cojo's also done highly regarded portraits and commissions for such A-List clientele as: Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Ja Rule, Redman, Cam'ron, Lil' Kim, Usher, Mario, Ashanti, and many others.
Over the past decade Cojo has firmly etched his signature portrait and line art styles into the upper echelon of the NY Pop Art Elite, seamlessly straddling the hip-hop world into the mainstream magazines (Has done portraits for Rolling Stone, Black Book, and Vibe), while staying grounded by the lofty Art Scene Status-Symbol-Sophisticates.
Much like Andy Warhol before him Cojo's style propelled him quickly to the top of the commercial art and illustration world, and due to his global recognition is now rapidly elevating him into view of Celebrities and Blue Chip Art Collectors.
The price of a painted Cojo Original portrait at the previously stated dimensions is $12,000.00 USD. An initial 1/3 payment of $4,000.00 USD is required to be placed on the waiting list. After your transaction is processed you will be personally contacted by the artist with confirmation e-mail and you will be officially slated to have a commissioned portrait painted for you by the artist when your position on the list is reached (Estimating 2007 or early 2008).
If you don't want the information of your commission released to the public that is perfectly fine. It can remain confidential at your discretion; otherwise we will be publicized in Cojo's various interviews, blog updates, and radio appearances.
