CINDERELLA: "I WANNA BE A HILTON" 7-1-05

With the October 4th DVD release of CINDERELLA, The Mouse turns Pumpkins into Carriages once again, trotting out the 55-year-old time tested relic to the Dr. Evil voiced tune of "150 Million Dollars."

October 4th 2005 will also be remembered as the day a cartoon once again (and for the most times on record) gave false hope to a new generation of young poor white girls by instilling them with the pre-womans-lib belief and dream that "one day their prince will come" effortlessly sweeping them out of their pitiful lives into a newfound "Pimped-Hiltonesque-Lifestyle." A life of splendor, riches, love and luxury. . . just for looking hot and marrying well.

The film has been run in theaters 6 times, was released to video in 1988, and now to DVD with a never before paralleled ad and cross over promotion budget. Get ready to see Cinderella's blond mug and logo plastered, sculpted, engraved, welded, glued, and laminated onto every single fucking thing a printer can wrap a line art image around come September.

With all the amazing cross platform merchandising that's available today it's almost like the industry has been waiting till the technology was great enough, and interconnected enough to fully advertise and merchandise a film to the point of complete over saturation in which the character achieves God like iconic cultural status. Well, you know the old saying, "If the shoe fits. . ."
