ELEVATION SUITE LOFT / LAUNCH PARTY
5-13-05 THIS POST'S CONTENT:

When Misery from ELEVATION SUITE MUSIC GROUP had called earlier in the week to invite TRACY and I to his record label's loft party, he told me specifically not to bring any single guys. The party was not an "industry party." It was an intimate party for women and couples, because there would be strippers. Female strippers. This spurred my curiosity, and since I would be doing the town already and Tracy had never experienced live strippers before, I knew I would have to make an appearance. . .
We had just left Datwon Thomas's KING OF NEW YORK PARTY at THE SUPPER CLUB in Times Square. It was nearing 2:00 AM when we hopped in a cab and shot straight down to 17th street for the loft party at ELEVATION SUITE MUSIC GROUP's office.

They were celebrating having released the new album RAP VS. HIP-HOP, (Which I did THE ART FOR ) featured this month in THE SOURCE MAGAZINE (Misery and Shice, who are the MC's on the album RAP VS. HIP-HOP actually recorded the THEME SONG for Artsucks.com (In fact, you will probably enjoy this update more if you click that link and just have the themesong play in the background while you read) and performed at my BIRTHDAY PARTY a few years ago). They FLEW ME DOWN TO MIAMI to document their appearance on MUN2's THE ROOF. This party was to launch the website for ELEVATION SUITE.COM, their independent record label. It was also Misery's Girlfriend's birthday so there was a lot to celebrate. We arrived at the building and buzzed the freight elevator button. Misery greeted us in the lobby and I introduced him to Tracy. We piled into the elevator with a few other guests who had just arrived and shot up to the floor the party was on.

The elevator opened to a dark long studio with leather couches and candles. There was a room where the DJ (DJ WIL POWER- see above photo) was set-up, another room with an open bar and people doing other types of inebriation inducing recreational activities.

We poured some mixed drinks proceeded to "get retarded." I had conversations with all these random people I have hung out with before at other parties. Skater Rich and Keith were both there from GAWSIE ATHLETECH, but mostly this wasn't an "industry party atmosphere" but was more of a "bachelor party atmosphere."

The party started thinning out, we were a few hours late so the bulk of the people had already left so Tracy and I decided we'd be leaving. We were looking for Misery so he could punch up the freight elevator and bring us down to street level. Misery's girlfriend called him to try to find out where he was. He told her to tell us "Don't leave, I'm coming up right now, and I got the strippers." The doors opened and out walked Misery accompanied by five strippers. . . PART 2 COMING NEXT WEEK!!!! Hey, I'm sick cut me some slack, it will be worth the wait!

Just another day in the life of an Art Juggernaut.
