DATWON THOMAS KING OF NEW YORK

T RACY and I took into Manhattan from Philly for the two parties I had lined up for the evening. The first party was at THE SUPPER CLUB in Times-FUCKING-Square. It was a 30th birthday party for my friend and client, Editor in Chief of KING MAGAZINE Datwon Thomas. If you have ever seen King Magazine, it's like the black version of Maxim, featuring photos of the hottest black women on Earth, so ya knew going in that this party was gonna be crazy. . .
Datwon is dope. If you have VH1 or Mtv you will have seen this dude on all of the "Fabulous Life Of" and "Best Week Ever" shows that deal with Rappers, or anything hip-hop. They've got him on speed dial.

Tracy and I got in and got a few drinks. We were of the first in the joint so it was still kinda empty. It soon started filling in with the beautiful people. I had planned two parties for the night and knew I wouldn't be able to stay long at The Supper Club, but had to make an appearance and say hi and happy birthday to my boy Datwon. HERE is the flyer- I didn't draw it.

Datwon's first Birthday Party was the night before this party ( I couldn't make that one ) , which was the "red carpet version" with the paparazzi lines, celebs, etc. Mtv's La La Vasquez and Aisha Davis were there. ANTHONY ANDERSON Yo Mtv Raps' old host Ed Lover, as well as Stephon Marbury (from the Knicks).

This party though wasn't all the glitzy celebs (although there were a few) and press junkets, but it was the one with all the hot as hell chicks. All the models that have posed for King, and all the models who wish to pose for King were there grinding and shaking their rumps like a saltshaker.

We waited around for about two hours and Datwon had still not arrived. A rumor was going around that Usher was in the VIP section, and I saw a couple comics I recognized from movies but didn't know their names. It was very much a waiting game, and I finally decided we would have to miss seeing him this time and head to our second venue. I texed Datwon and told him we were there but had to split. He shot me a text back thanking me for coming and letting me know that the lines were crazy and people were getting turned away so he was in the middle of dealing with all that shit, but we would catch-up in the next week.

Tracy and I jumped in a cab and shot down to party number two. Next year man!

Just another day in the life of an Art Juggernaut.
