NEW YEARS ROCKIN' EVE! 1-1-05
I had one of the craziest New Years Eve's ever.
As far as the actual New Years 11:59- 12:00- 2005 roll over, it was the most relaxed fun I've had in a while.
The planning for New Years was the insane part. . . I had so many different plans for what I was going to actually do this year. The first plan was to Jet over to London where RAN-D, DAVEY G and I would meet up INK where we would hop a train to Prague (Czech Republic) where we would go crazy with Absinth and whatever other narcotics I assume can be legally purchased there.
It would have also given me a chance to chill with my Czech Maxim Art Directors and really do the town up for a few weeks, but as the day came closer one by one we got too busy to take the two weeks off and that adventure was postponed. Ink did the Prague journey himself, and is still there swimming in a green psychedelic haze of Van Gogh and Oscar Wilde inspiration.
With that option out, I was left looking for ideas within the continental 50. Ran-D was thinking something a little warmer. He invited TRACY and I to chill at his summer house down in Florida on the gulf of Mexico, wherein we would rent a convertible and spend New Years in Miami with BUGALOO and SURGE and the rest of their crew.
Some schedules conflicted and it would have been a big hassle for not enough days of relaxation so Tracy and I backed out of that one.
The next options were the big ass club parties in New York, LA, and Philly. I was literally invited to about thirty parties in Manhattan alone and ten in LA. I spent a while tossing these ideas around and weighing the options. I had done New Years in NYC up right with Cris A.C. last year so this year I had a new girlfriend and wanted to try something different.
Being that Tracy and I weren't going to be down in Florida, and now that things were heating up between Ran-D and his new Russian girlfriend Tatsi, he changed his plans and stayed up here. He and Tatsi went to Williamsburg, Brooklyn (his new favorite hang out) and finished up the night dancing at Roaring Twenties party at Lotus in Manhattan.
I had planned a textbook-elaborately-classy-black-tie-celebration with dancing to Frank and Dean style music at Historic Richmond Hall in Philly, where Tracy and I would be driven back to her apartment afterwards for a night of Romance.
The bulk of this holiday I spent with Tracy in Philly and Allentown, Pennsylvania. On New Years Eve we went to a swanky bar restaurant in Philly called THE CONTINENTAL. Normally a very "Rat Pack" swingers style lounge, they had the place done up special for New Years in that they divided the two floors into two motifs Heaven (the upper level) and Hell,(the main lounge). We chose Hell. We were seated in a big booth by a devil chick, and were served by a different devil chick; red tinted with a tail, horns, and a tight corset much reminiscent of the average Coop poster but not as voluptuous.
We had food and drinks and split out of there. Last minute we decided to just skip the Hall and caught a cab to Tracy's pad. I'm all for parties, but I'll take bedroom over black tie any time.
Regis Philbin, it sucks to be you.
Just another day in the life of an Art Juggernaut.
