Welcome to all you O & A fans out there across the country. I'm COJO, artist and CELEBRITY PORTRAITIST , and this is Artsucks.
I was in the studio on Wednesday (less than a week after their Letterman appearance) shooting photo reference for a PORTRAIT of the O & A cast that will be hung in their studio, and printed in a major magazine. I want to really get into it here but I'm thinking of pitching the story as an editorial feature.
You may have seen my artwork and writing in Maxim Magazine in the past four years as I've been in almost every issue from number 50 to 100. I have also been printed in 16 overseas editions of Maxim (15 different languages). I'm also currently working on commissioned portraits for MIKE TYSON and KEVIN SMITH If you would like to commission a portrait of yourself CLICK HERE. If you aren't financially prepared to make that much of an investment in art, you can always buy original and affordable pencil drawings from my yearlong sketch experiment SKETCH365.com.
Thanks for checking out my site. You can get to all the major areas from the ARTSUCKS.COM STARTPAGE. On to the press release. . .
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
COJO COMMISSIONED TO CREATE PORTRAIT FOR O & A'S NEW STUDIO
HOWARD STERN'S OLD TERRESTRIAL HOME GETS A FACELIFT OPIE & ANTHONY STYLE
New York, NY
Wednesday, August 30, 2006
OPIE & ANTHONY,
notorious syndicated radio bad boys have returned to terrestrial radio (Also simulcast uncensored on XM Radio Channel 202 "High Voltage" ) and have been handed Howard Stern's old studio, as well as a giant chunk of his former terrestrial audience
The O & A buzz is huge. They currently have far more listeners than their Satellite Only rival.
The pair only recently signed back on to the public airwaves in April after a four-year hiatus. In August 2002 they were fired for an On-Air radio stunt involving listeners having sex in a church.
The new studio is empty with large bare walls. Cojo, artist and CELEBRITY PORTRAITIST , has offered to grace their studio with a large personalized commissioned portrait of the O &A Cast in action. The artist has been a fan of the show since the late 90's when the duo were just local New York Radio "Shock Jocks" on the now defunct WNEW-FM.
Cojo gained recognition in the celebrity portrait world by establishing his portraiture style in the pages of MAXIM and Rolling Stone Magazine usually depicting celebrities in unflattering and humorous situations. ALA Warhol he has parlayed his talent and reputation in the commercial art world, into the fine art spectrum by taking commissioned portrait work from Celebrities, Directors, Musicians, Business Execs, and the Power Elite.
Most recently Cojo has taken on commissions from former heavyweight champ MIKE TYSON, and a family portrait commission for famed film director / writer KEVIN SMITH (Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Clerks II).
"Opie & Anthony are making that studio their own. Their uniquely caustic styles are unrivaled in modern radio and I want to help them reflect that in their studio's decor. This portrait will serve as a symbolic territorial pissing on the wall, marking their new home."
-Cojo
Over the coming weeks Cojo will be creating a portrait for the Opie & Anthony Show's CBS studio incorporating: the core cast of the show, inside jokes relevant to the show, and listener collaboration by taking visual gag suggestions from postings on various O & A fan message boards.
His first trip to The Opie & Anthony Show will be to meet O & A, and shoot photo reference of the studio and The Opie & Anthony Show cast for the portrait. This appearance came just six days after Opie & Anthony made their debut appearance on THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN.
Aside from hanging on their studio wall this portrait will most likely be printed in Maxim Magazine in an upcoming article about Cojo's Celebrity Portrait work, and possibly a two page header for an upcoming feature.
Cojo is available for interviews, features, and spotlights (SEE- PREVIOUS PRESS ). Please contact the artist about his portrait work HERE. To contact the artist about his Sketch Experiment SKETCH365.com go to the SKETCH365.COM PRESS KIT . To Commission a portrait click here: COMMISSION A PORTRAIT
