RICK ROSS AT COJO'S BIRTHDAY PARTY
8-25-06 POST RATED: Rick Ross, Def Jam, Rick Ross, CD Release, Port of Miami, Record Drop, Respect Management, Kevon Glickman, Fugees, Lauren Hill, Cojo, Jay-Z

I recently did a little illustration job for Miami Rap Artist one of the biggest recording artists on earth RICK ROSS.

His new album PORT OF MIAMI was released on August 8th and in it's first week it jumped out the gate ranked as BILLBOARD'S TOP 200 # 1 ALBUM.

I stopped by the Philadelphia offices of his current manager (and my old manager) KEVON GLICKMAN ESQ. of RESPECT MANAGMENT just days before the album dropped to catch-up on old times, I later blogged about it (READ THAT UPDATE HERE).

While I was on vacation this week Kevon shot me an e-mail about something I had forgotten. Rick Ross was at my 26th birthday party three years ago (10-22-03). I even wrote about him coming up for the party when I hyped it back then- read here. In 2003 Ross was known mainly for his song writing and producing. Who knew he'd make a number one album?

The party was huge and I don't think I ever was introduced to him so I never knew if he made it or not. I just checked the photos and the night vision footage of the party and low and behold, a spotlight falls right on Rick Ross' head as he's bobbing to DJ SKI-HI'S beat.

Thanks Rick and congrats on the success! Thanks Kev for the reminder. I really should do a portrait for Rick. Thanks to my boy Josh Clark from Wander Films for shooting the footage.

Artsucks.com tracks the f_cked-up visual life and mind of COJO ART JUGGERNAUT (MAXIM, ROLLING STONE, VIBE), a 28-year-old artistic zeitgeist trudging the streets of Manhattan (Philly, Vegas, Bklyn, etc...), gnawing on the big rotten apple for all it's worth, and getting drunk on the cider. . .
Celebrity encounters, industry parties, the ins and outs of the art world, paparazzi, models, and deranged homeless people bathing in their own urine. No topic is safe, and the unusual is commonplace. . .
