JAIN'S 24th BIRTHDAY

Happy 24th Birthday JAIN!!! Jain is one of my favorite people on Earth. She's a DJ (one of two female voices) at WZZO in PA and has her own show LIBERATION FREQUENCY on 91.9FM WNTI (and on the web). Not only has she modeled for me for several Maxim pieces, and modeled for my website, she has also taken a bulk of my publicity photos. The last few years I've gone on holiday with her and her friends at her summer house ( REAL WORLD SHELTER ISLAND, REAL WORLD SHELTER ISLAND 2) and I never miss her BIRTHDAYS.
This week as I was drawing the pencil work for the ALTERNATIVE PRESS MAGAZINE spread, Jain's little sister ANNIE (who is yet to write me a bio), was in town for spring break and asked if she could swing by and write a paper at my place and do a candid photo shoot of me as I drew and then we could both head over to Jain's apartment for her Birthday dinner. Annie is heavily into photography in college (a camera with real film) so I was totally down for that, and she's really cool so I welcomed the company. I looked like shit having been working for days on this drawing neglecting all else.
This project has been a stretch for me because the piece is an homage to Richard Scarry so I have to draw in his style without line weights and stick to his hideous color schemes. I'll write about this project when it prints. She shot me in the afternoon, and then again later in the night just to see if the light was better later in the day. I didn't mind, I was going to be drawing regardless. Here are a few digital shots she took with her other camera.
I'll be getting the actual photos from the shoot next week sometime when she develops them. SEE ANNIE'S PHOTOSHOOT OF ME DRAWING HERE We drove over to Jain's place for her little party dinner and Jain and her boyfriend STEIN (See below with the Tattoos) were there to greet us. We drank some wine and Jain's friend Jessica showed up just as the Japanese food arrived.
We had a great meal and conversation, and then watched THE DEVIL AND DANIEL JOHNSTON, which I've probably seen at least fifty times now and is one of my favorite artist docs.
Annie took some more shots of me and it got late so she left. . . I went back to drawing, now free to move without being monitored and documented myself.
