Being that Molly works outside of the home, and I am either drawing, working on the computer, or painting during the day we decided that our studio cat Crumb (named after underground cartoonist R.Crumb) whom we adopted last September, was probably feeling a bit bored and that he would enjoy the company of a little brother.
One day after we came to this decision Molly found this little orange tabby online, and before the day was over we were driving to Jersey to pick him up.
He's only 7 weeks old, Crumb was about 20 weeks old when we got him, so this kitten is teeny tiny.
We named him Harvey, after the late Harvey Pekar (pictured with me above), writer of American Splendor and friend of R.Crumb. It has been a year almost to the day since he died, and we figured not only would it be a nice tribute, but hopefully Crumb (the cat) and Harvey (the cat) would get along like their namesakes.
This morning after Molly left I decided to take a few candid shots of the two hanging out in the livingroom. Crumb can't take his eyes off of Harvey.
Harvey chilling on the rug.
We had to put some books down so Harvey could reach the food and water dishes.
"Nooo, the flash is too bright on my kitten eyes!"
Crumb is so happy to have another cat around to wrestle with & protect.
We think of Crumb as pretty small, but next to Harvey he is a giant.
