After checking out the Affordable Art Fair my girlfriend Molly and I headed down to Soho for the opening of Gina LeVay: Bull Fight.
Our old friend, and amazing photographer, Gina LeVay made numerous trips to Spain and Mexico over the past five years and came back with an amazing documentary-via-photos of real life female matadors. These photos are currently on exhibit at Hous Projects. You may know Gina's work from Time Magazine, or her book Sandhogs.
I had seen some of these photos on her site, but they are so much more vivid in person and large. I would not want to mess with these women.
The woman of the hour, the wait to talk to Gina was long...

TV impresario Tad Low and Molly talking about her life in children's theatre.
Molly and my former art director at VIBE Magazine, Mark Shaw, now running Sweet Taste Studio in Brooklyn.
Tad and Mark.
After getting my Cinco de Mayo buzz going with all the wine, Molly and I headed for home. Thanks Gina, great stuff! This was a killer solo show, and I highly recommend people checking it out before it's gone.
Gina LeVay: Bull Fight closes June 25.
