Legendary 60s Fillmore East psychedelic liquid light show pioneer Joshua White who's visual performance work has backed The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, and The Who takes his multimedia rainbow-trip Joshua Light Show to NYU's Skirball Center from September 13-16 with performances by The Velvet Underground's Lou Reed 9-14, and MGMT's Ben Goldwasser & Andrew VanWyngarden 9-15.
I was invited for the opening reception for the unveiling of the outdoor windowbox treatment White's multi-media artist protégés created specificaly for the building's exterior.
Joshua White himself taking in the glowing boxes in all their nightime splendor.
A box of treasures.
This shadowbox reaveals original concert posters of the era. . .
Handwritten letters, magazine articles, backstage pass to Woodstock, original Jimmmy Hendrix poster.

By Artist and Scissor Sister Ana Matronic.
By Artist Brock Monroe.
By Artist Bec Stupak.
By Artist Stan Schnier.
Inside the building wine and artisanal cheese were served while the artists mingled.
If you can't make it to one of the performances I at least recommend you take a trip to Washington Square Park at night and just off the south of the park on the corner of LaGuardia place is the window box exhibit. I personally plan on attending the Lou Reed show at least.
