ART BATTLES
POP-UP SHOW ON BLEEKER ST.
FRIDAY JANUARY 13, 2012 - 159 BLEEKER STREET, WEST VILLAGE, NY
Artists battled it out in the West Village this week. ART BATTLES held down a massive venue for four days as artists dueled and gained hanging exposure at POP UP SPACE NY on Bleeker Street this week. 300 Pieces of art, 30 Artists, representing 3 countries (US, SPAIN, FRANCE). What are Art Battles?
"The objective of Art Battles® is to create live art events and competitions to expose emerging artists to the public. This becomes an exhibition of the creative process through a battle between teams of artists. Art Battles is innovative in that it has changed the way artists demonstrate their talents, creating a new model for art exhibition and sales. The founders of Art Battles are pioneers for inspiring this global movement. As the renown painter Chuck Close said, 'Art Battles is a poetry slam of art.'"
Unfortunatly I was running late in getting to the Williamsburg 2nd Friday, so I only had time to swing in and take a few shots before jumping on the train out of Manhattan. My girlfriend Molly did show up here later and witness the party in full swing with life art face-offs happening and whatnot. It apparently is a fun "happening" to be in the middle of. Lots of line art.
The size of this space is no joke.
