JOE FRAZZETTA
CARTOONIST / ANIMATIOR
"How I met the Juggernaut? I met Cojo back in freshman year of college (SVA) where he and I were in the same painting class together. I remember him showing off some Dave McKean stuff (Sandman's comic book cover artist). His paintings were always really good and detailed. After college I didn't see or hear of him again but I always remembered that cool ass name, Cojo
Then in 2003 I spotted some hot comic strip artwork in Maxim Magazine and I looked for the name of the artist. Holy Shit! it's that Cojo character again. It had to be the same guy. Who else would have that ink? I contacted him via email and sure enough it was the same floppy blonde headed kid back in SVA. Since that time I have been a fan of his work and inspired to do just as good."
MORE ABOUT ME:
Coffee Break creator Joseph Frazzetta (A.K.A FRAZ) was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1977, Frazzetta's began his creative path in High School when he got accepted into the High School of Art & Design. From there, he won the Silver Medal for Best Cartoonist. His creativity and talent led him straight to the School of Visual Arts (SVA) where he majored in Animation.
In 1999, Frazzetta graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts from SVA. Many months went by and he started in the strange field of shipping for an editing house, Nice Shoes, Inc. Four months later he was offered a job as an Animator for Rumpus.com. During his time at Rumpus.com, he learned the process from storyboards, layouts, to final animation to complete a whole-animated short and movie. He was part of the first Web animated movie "Hershel Hopper." He was a major part of the two production teams for the Web animated series "Eggels" and "Space Puppies." Frazzetta was also asked to help in the production of another Rumpus.com Web animated movie "The Day I Saved America," starring Amanda Bynes. Then in 2001 the 'Dot Com Explosion' took place and Rumpus.com closed its doors.
Out of a job for several months, Frazzetta decided to go for his Teacher’Äôs credentials in NYC. He landed a job with Forest Hills High School as an Art Teacher. He taught four different preps that included Art Appreciation, Website Design, Computer Art, & Fashion Design. His stay there was short because he wanted a career change. So he gathered all his belongings and headed West.
Living in Studio City, California was a great experience. It was then that Joseph introduced his own comic strip "Coffee Break," inspired by his real friends, to his site. The comic strip's debut in 2003 started slow with one episode each month, generating about 400 hits per month. Five months later Coffee Break broke an amazing 11 thousand hits per month and now is being offered twice a month. It is currently generating over 20 thousand hits a month and still going strong.
His ambition is to become a successful artist maybe-even work for an animation studio. After living a year in Studio City California he realized that his heart and passion for drawing lies back East. He also returned to his co-founding Softball team, Pino's Doughboys. Now at 27 years old, he resides in Brooklyn, New York where he keeps his dream alive by drawing each and every day to expand his talent.
